The
SEA-LAC Trade Center initiates the Seminar Series
named as “ SEA-LAC Talk”, which
seminar details is related to trade and investment
in the Southeast Asian and Latin American regions
in several aspects. The concept of SEA-LAC Talk
is seminar style which offers the initiative ideas,
sharing opinions, and giving knowledge to people
who are interested in Trade and Investment in
SEA and LAC countries. In each series, the SEA-LAC
Trade Center invites guest speakers who are experienced
in trade and investment in SEA and LAC countries
from several industries to share their experience
and knowledge.
The
SEA-LAC Trade Center cooperates with Embassy of
Argentina, Thailand and The Office of Thailand
Trade Representative to organize a seminar on
a topic of “Opportunities in ARGENTINA:
Agro-business Giant”. The speaker is
Mr. Pablo Hitters, an Argentinean businessman
who has a family cattle business, exporting Argentinean
beef to international market, and family manufactured
natural ingredients such as vitamin E mixed tocopherols
and phytosterols. He is also a consultant on International
Business Management. (Education: MBA degree in
Strategy, Finance, and Marketing from Kellogg
School of Management, Northwestern University,
USA)
Argentina,
officially the Argentina Republic, is the second
largest country in South America (Brazil is the
first largest country.) It is the eight-largest
country in the world by land area (2,791,810 sq.
km.), while Thailand is the forty-ninth largest
country (514,000 sq.km). GDP per capita in purchasing
power parity in 2008 is $14,333. Argentina is
an open economy, export-oriented agricultural
sector, and diversified industrial base. Argentina
is a full member of the MERCOSUR with Brazil,
Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela, and five associate
members: Bolivia, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, and
Peru. The growers, ranchers, processors, and other
agribusinesses in Argentina is blossoming- accounted
for more than $73 billion in exports. Main exports
of Argentina are meat, sugar, and soybean. Moreover,
Argentina is the second largest producer of ethanol
after Brazil.
