The Latin Business Forum 2010 was held at the Santi Maitri Building, the Royal Thai Government House in Bangkok, on Thursday, November 18th, 2010. The Forum was jointly organized by the Office of Thailand Trade Representative (TTR), Thailand Chamber of Commerce (TCC), Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), ASEAN Foundation, and the Southeast Asia-Latin America (SEA-LAC) Trade Center, University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Embassies of Latin American countries in Thailand (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Mexico, Panama, and Peru) and Thailand's governmental agencies (Ministry of foreign Affairs, Ministry of Commerce, Thailand Board of Investment, and Thailand Tourism of Authority).

In augural session, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva made opening remarks and addressed to the economic importance of Asia and Latin America as leaders in the recent global economic recovery. The several countries in these two regions became rising global powers. With strong economic fundamentals and huge market size, the two regions should strengthen cooperation through trade liberalization as well as cooperation in common interests, PM Abhisit said. Additionally, Thailand and Peru signed the third additional protocol, witnessed by PM Abhisit Vejjajiva on that day, to ensure the Thailand-Peru Free Trade Agreement takes effect in the first quarter of the next year.

The Latin Business Forum 2010 was a key venue to serve for Thai, ASEAN, and the Latin American business community to meet and hold business discussions. It was the first time in Thailand of combining high ranking government officials from Argentina, Brazil, Peru, and Thailand together with Latin American and ASEAN Economists and CEOs. The insights and valuable information and experiences on trade and investment were shared by speakers.
