16th, 2009 - The SEA-LAC Trade Center in collaboration
with Embassy of Argentina, Thailand, Inter-American
Development Bank (IDB), Office of Thailand Trade
Representative, conducted a seminar on "SEA-LAC
Talk: Opportunities in Argentina: Agro-business
Giant" at University of the Thai Chamber
of Commerce, Bangkok. H.E. Mr. Felipe Frydman,
Ambassador of the Argentina, Thailand, shared an
insight on Argentina's Economic Outlook. Our speaker
is Mr. Pablo Hitters, an Argentinean
businessman who has a family cattle business, exporting
Argentinean beef to international market, and family
manufactured natural ingredients such as Vitamin
E mixed tocopherols and phytosterols. Mr. Hitters
is a consultant on International Business Management.
(Education: MBA degree from Kellogg School of Management,
Northwestern University). Mr. Phairush Burapachaisri,
Secretary General of Thai Chamber of Commerce and
Thailand Board of Trade was also presence at the
seminar.
The seminar was joined by 40 business executives,
representatives from Thai Chamber of Commerce,
government officials, media, such as Betagro,
Mitphol, CP Group, Siam Cement Group, Asia-fruit,
Pan Asia Logistics, Department of Export Promotion
(MOC), Department of Trade Negotiation (MOC),
Ministry of Energy, among others.
The seminar provided a venue for participants
from different sectors to share ideas of trade
and investment opportunities of Argentina-Thailand.
On agricultural business, Mr. Hitters shared his
business experience in operating agricultural
business in Argentina, offered the strategies
of doing integrated agro-production, and providing
possible trade and investment directions in agricultural
sector between Argentina and Thailand.
Argentina is a leading global producer& exporter
of food commodities and products. The growers,
ranchers, processors, and other agribusinesses
in Argentina are blossoming- accounted for more
than $73 billion in exports. Main exports of Argentina
are agricultural goods, almost 90% of Argentinean
agricultural commodities and products exporting
to Thailand. Moreover, Argentina is the second
largest producer of ethanol after Brazil.
