Rationale

In the 21st century, what would be scenarios of research in social science and humanities? How would research be conducted or changed? Would multidisciplinary approach play more roles? These are significant questions researchers and academicians have been trying to cope with and adjust themselves to the current disrupted world.

Since language and society are dynamic and interdependent, people in society learn about language and cultural diversity at the same time. This is the world without boundaries, but disrupted, where different languages and cultures are well blended in the digital era. The study of language and society will benefit from multidisciplinary collaboration. Research in the field has been conducted to give insights of how people, language, and society are intermingled, and thus we can understand them more.

The School of Humanities and Applied Arts, University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, will hold HMA’s 40th Anniversary National and International Conference on “Approaching the Future through Multidisciplinary Research” on June 9, 2020. The conference will feature a variety of presentations and discussions about current research approach focusing on language and its roles in various contexts as well as on multidisciplinary research.

Objectives

1. provide participants with an overall picture and overview of research in social science and humanities in the 21th century; and
2. share insights into the role of multidisciplinary approach on conducting research in social science and humanities, i.e., communication, business, technology, language teaching and learning, performing arts, media, politics, and others.

Expected Outcomes

1. Participants have a new vision of how multidisciplinary approach impacts their research planning in the 21st century.
2. Participants gain from shared experiences and knowledge obtained from research in social science and humanities.
3. Participants are motivated to conduct more rigorous research based on multidisciplinary collaborations, so a new body of knowledge is generated.
4. Participants make use of the knowledge gained from the conference to develop themselves in both teaching and research work.

Submission of Abstracts

Abstracts for the main session should be submitted online in .docx or .doc format. Abstracts should be no longer than 250-300 words in a 12-point, Times New Roman font, and should be written in English. Abstracts in Chinese, Japanese and Korean are accept. The abstract of your proposed paper can be sent via Registration Menu of this website http://utcc2.utcc.ac.th/humanities_conf2020/. The abstracts will be acknowledged within a week of receipt. If you do not receive an acknowledgement within that time, please send it again or contact Associate Professor Dr. Usa Sutthisakorn at [email protected] / [email protected]. It is the responsibility of all those sending an abstract electronically to ensure that the submission is virus-free. The deadline for abstract submission is 29 February 2020. In case you cannot meet the deadline for the abstract submission, you can submit your full paper by 25 April 2020.

Template for Abstract and Full Paper

The full paper should be between 8-15 pages including maps, charts, diagrams, references. Please use 12-point Times New Roman font and single line spacing for the whole document. Paragraphs must be justified (fully aligned).
